The Garden is a military academy. In this Garden they learn young people to be a soldier. When they're good enough they must take an exam to proove their skills. If the students pass they will automatically become a member of Garden's special unit 'SeeD'. SeeD is a special unit, which is send all over the world to take care of some problems. A SeeD unit can also be hired, like in this game. The thing that makes a SeeD member real special and a good soldier is that they learn 'Magic'. Magic is one of the hardest things to learn and to use in this world. The Galbadian Army and Sorceress Edea are trying to take over the world. Rinoa hires you to stop them. As a six-member party: Squall, Rinoa, Zell, Quistis, Irvine and Selphie, you fight against humans, monsters and gf's. Then the enemy (the Galbadian Army and Sorceress Edea) gets a new order: 'Kidnap Ellone, who has the power to send people back into the past'. Your assignment changes too: 'Rescue the girl'. Once in awhile you will faint and step into Laguna's life. You control his body and mind. So you don't go through the adventures only with Squall, but also with Laguna and his friends. When he meets Rinoa for the first time, something within him feels very strange. Something he has never felt before. The more they stay together, the more the feeling within him grows.
